Wooh! It’s been an eventful month.

If you’ve been a frequent reader of the Intel Solutions newsletter thank you for hopping over in this new space and your ongoing support. If you are joining in for the first time, welcome! I have an intro post I sent out recently to give you a sense of what to expect from this newsletter, and a bit about myself.

I just have to say – this website is feeling a little bit like my first apartment when I had a couch and like two random chairs. So over the next few weeks, I’ll be adding some new content here so it doesn’t feel so empty. In the meantime, feel free to poke around the new space and enjoy this week’s issue.

This week is all about brand reinvention.

Did you know Pepsi rebranded from Brad’s Drink and has reinvented itself over a dozen times since the late 1800’s!?

Apple’s first logo was Isaac Newton sitting under a tree.

And Google’s original name was Backrub. (??)

Rebrands aren’t just a fresh coat of paint — they’re about telling a new story. And now I’m happy to share mine.

Why the change

When I started Intel Solutions in university, my focus was on building digital products and sharing insights in data, business, and design. It was a great umbrella for my freelance work — but as my newsletter grew and readers gained interest, I realized the name didn’t fully reflect the creative direction we were headed.

Intel Solutions sounded corporate and broad. What I wanted was something that captured the data and storytelling side of what I do now – which is writing and content creation. That’s where PlotStack comes in.

  • Plot represents storytelling — the narrative behind the data, the ideas, the insights.

  • Stack represents the tools, frameworks, and layers of knowledge used to build those stories.

Famous Rebrands Through History

Rebranding isn’t new — even the biggest names in the world have done it (sometimes more than once).

Apple – Their first logo (1976) was a highly detailed etching of Isaac Newton. A year later, they simplified to the iconic bitten apple.

Airbnb – In 2014, they swapped their simple blue wordmark for the Bélo symbol, designed to represent “belonging.”

Slack – Their original hashtag-style logo was redesigned because it was too complex to scale across different platforms.

Meta (Facebook) – A name change to signal a shift toward the metaverse and a broader vision.

Gap – In 2010, they launched a new logo… and pulled it after one week due to customer backlash resulting in an estimated $100 million whoopsie. 😬

The Benefits of a Rebrand

Done right, a rebrand can:

  • Clarify your identity – making it easier for people to understand what you stand for.

  • Spark fresh attention – a good rebrand is newsworthy and shareable.

  • Align your image with your vision – attracting the right audience.

  • Future-proof your brand – giving you space to expand into new areas.

For me, PlotStack is about focusing on data, storytelling, and creativity in a way that feels both fresh and future-ready.

What This Means For You, The Reader

You’ll still get the newsletter on the same days — with insights, resources, and ideas in business, data, and design.

The difference is now we have a home that better reflects that mission. Moving to our new platform also means:

  • More personalization

  • Cleaner designs

  • Better reader experience

  • Improved content archive

Did you know? Facebook’s iconic blue color was chosen because Mark Zuckerberg is red-green colorblind.

What would you like to see next? At the end of each issue I like to open up the floor to everyone – if you have a suggestion for what you would like to see next please share it below in the comments, or email me directly at: [email protected]
